Work place Melancholy

A word least used in day to day terminology but an ailment of which everybody has been afflicted , sometime in their lives. This could be for many reasons, it could be self caused or by others, but in whole the person who is in this aberrant  frame of mind, never wanted to be there in the first place never the less is there now.

There is a aphorism inscribed in the pronaos (forecourt) of the temple of Apollo at Delphi which reads as “Gnothi Seauton” which means “KNOW THYSELF” (and no I do not refer to the Sarah Conner Chronicles), but really do we have any idea who we are? Before my wisdom is questioned,I would like my readers to ask themselves this question,in solitude reflecting their day to day lives.

I then ask again ” Do you know yourself?”

Man has wandered for centuries trying to understand  “Tat Tvam Asi” (WHAT YOU ARE) or Anaa/Fanaa/Bakaa (I, Transit,Eternal),in order to understand himself but only a few do get answers. In his search he encounters truths , lies, and of course the void. One thing that he learns even if he does not get all the answers is that how small or how in consequent is he , his existence.

He understands…He acknowledges…His first step begins…but he leaves the search as he feels defeated, his understanding is left incomplete,he is the winner,he is the looser….if only he had!

Our day to day lives are intertwined , in this perspective driven world, if you do have the energy to feel sad,you should have the time to know whom you should be knowing…..yourself.

And if Zen could help Robert Persig repair his motorcycle, I am sure it can help evolve better at our workplaces.
